Post From Melissa:
Day 3 started off with bagels from the event organizers. We got to breakfast a little late and missed out on the cream cheese...bummer! I guess other hikers are also a big fan of the white stuff. They did still have peanut butter and jelly but that didn't go well with an onion bagel.
At 9am we hit up the Water Report Class which is one of the most important classes. It teaches you where to find water and which areas are dry. This year water levels are really low and many rivers and creeks are dry. This means we will need to care extra water in certain stretches which means extra weight!
Next I run over to campsite #37 again for another visit with Dr Sole so he could attend to my blisters. This time he cuts away all of the lifted loose skin on the blisters and exposes the raw skin beneath. It hurt like a son of a gun but I took it well and didn't complain. I hobbled back to my campsite in my cushy Crocs and let my footsies rest.
We hung out some more with our campsite neighbors and shared some good laughs (Snake Charmer, Sarge, Christian, and Kevin). The boys ran to store and picked me up ingredients to make a Paloma. It sure helped my feet feel better! Thanks guys!
Next we cruised through the vendor booths and picked up some wool socks to help with my blisters. We also purchased a Stick Pic which clips on to our hiking pole and allows us to take pictures with it like a mono-pod.
At 4pm was the PCT Class of 2013 group photo next to the lake...to bad I don't have a copy of that picture yet!
The night ended with cheeseburgers, brownies, and some good laughs and conversations with our new friends. We were exhausted and in bed before 10pm (referred to as "Hiker's Midnight").
Hoping your feet are feeling better than this photo now girl... When do you get your new shoes???
